Like many local governments, the City of Chelsea, MA had very specific applications for certain business license types. They were looking for an online solution that would help them to see better compliance, higher revenue, and need less staff time to process each application. The ability for employees to be able to work remotely and in the field was also extremely important.

Solution

Online Licensing and Internal Review Workflows With ClearForms

The City of Chelsea, MA brought their workflows online with ClearForms in 2017 with their Amusement/ Entertainment License, Common Victualer License, and Rooming House License Applications.

ClearForms not only brought the city’s application forms and license fee payments online, but also digitized the real “behind the scenes” work such as internal reviews and approvals. Chelsea’s online workflows were up and running very quickly and the city continues to add new ones as needed.

Since implementing ClearForms, Chelsea added additional workflows for special events, park facility reservations, and more types of business licenses. During the COVID pandemic, Chelsea was even able to quickly launch a Temporary Outdoor/ Sidewalk Dining Permit to help local restaurants continue operating safely.
